Helping Everyone Reach Out to Support

HERO’S Alliance believes that everyone can reach their full potential by enhancing the overall health, wellness and acceptance of people living in the Lac du Bonnet area.

Working with the community of Lac du Bonnet, HERO’S Alliance will work towards:

  • Connecting people to existing resources and services provided in Lac du Bonnet.

  • Identifying and addressing community needs within an interagency approach that is community-driven, information-based and action-oriented.

  • Collectively advocating for additional support services to better meet our community’s needs.

  • Developing new health and wellness programs and services for Lac du Bonnet.

  • Partnering with existing agencies to ensure sustainable operations of newly developed health and wellness programs and services in our community.

  • Networking and combining resources to achieve our goals and to strengthen our collective community.

At HERO’S Alliance, we want to help our community achieve the greatest health possible by:

  • Encouraging active living and accessing the many resources available in our region.

  • Supporting people in learning, growing, and developing skills.

  • Providing tools and resources to enhance wellness and help people achieve their goals.

FOOD SECURITY

Food security exists when all people have sufficient access to safe and nutritious food.

COVID-19 and economic changes have had a significant impact on Food Security for many people in our community. HERO’S Alliance partners with community to offer support, programming, and projects to increase opportunity to access affordable and nutritious food.

At HERO’S Alliance, we want to help our community achieve food security for all. Please have a look at the resources available to you in the Community Food Resources link below.

  • Mrs. Lucci’s Family Resource Centre in Lac du Bonnet can provide help if you are not able to buy the food that you need. 76 3rd Street, Lac du Bonnet. Call Torrie at 204-345-9901.

  • Lunch Is On Us is a twice weekly hot soup available for free!

  • Congregate Meal Programs are a hot lunch program for seniors and persons living with a disability. Lac du Bonnet offers Let’s Do Lunch at Park Manor, Wednesdays and Fridays. Contact Dianne at 204-345-2228Pinawa offers Shirley’s Kitchen at Vanier Centre, Mondays and Wednesdays. Contact Shirley at: 204-753-2087

  • Meal and Ingredient Bags: Stuck on Meal Ideas? Call Kristen Ticknor at 204-345-1230 for a nutritious, pre-portioned package of ingredients for a great meal! The food bank also offers the meal bags. They change all the time.

  • Lac du Bonnet Food Security Network works together for solutions for food insecurity in the region. If you’d like to learn more call 204-345-1230.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS

The Health and Wellness of a community starts with the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual wellness of every person in the community.

At HERO’S Alliance, we provide support to:

  • Counselling in Lac du Bonnet which provides a qualified counsellor to work with individuals, couples and families. Contact Torrie at Mrs. Lucci’s 204-345-9901

  • Lac du Bonnet Youth Mentorship provides children and youth from ages 7 to 18 with the friendship and support of an adult mentor. Contact Ryna at 205-997-2054 or rynalpw@gmail.com if you are interested.

  • Developing mental health resources and ensuring current resources are accessible to people in Lac du Bonnet.

  • Enhancing group education programs available in the community.

Community Non-Profit Organizations

  • Mrs. Lucci’s Family Resource Centre offers a Resource Centre, a second hand clothing store, large multipurpose room.

  • Lucci’s Too is a second hand store for household items located on 4th Street.

Donations not requiring a tax receipt can be made to HERO’S Alliance and mailed to Box 1453, Lac du Bonnet, MB, R0E 1A0

If you require a tax receipt, donations to HERO’S may be made by cash, cheque, money order, debit and e-transfer.

All payments may be made in person at the Town Office on 84 Second St., Lac du Bonnet.
